Description
The essays included in the volume, written in the past seven or eight years, are mostly unintentionally, with the exception of one (the József Kádár reminiscence), the "Jewish problem" being the leaven. According to the author's hopes, the individual writings will mostly "stand on their own", and the creative intention is twofold: on the one hand, I intend the book as a further addition to one of my historical obsessions, the group of phenomena that I (following Bertalan Szemere, Zsigmond Kemény, Péter Takács and Zoltán Tóth) call "noble bourgeoisification" to illustrate the impact of Hungarian-Jewish (Jewish-Hungarian) coexistence. All the more so because I believe that it can offer important emotional and sociological clues and serve as a kind of illustration for the successful social integration and almost complete Magyarization of Hungarian Jews in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. Because I also secretly hope that perhaps one day the systematic implementation of this "approach" may truly lead to the "reconciliation" of the various segments of the Hungarian nation, as well as to the conclusion and intellectual transcendence of the current frustrating "caravan camp".
